“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”— Matthew 11:28

Devotion

Yesterday the door didn’t open. The record didn’t verify. The path closed before you reached the end. You told yourself, “I’ll try again tomorrow.” That wasn’t giving up. That was just setting down what couldn’t be carried another step.

When Jesus spoke these words, He didn’t say, “Fix it all first, then come.” He said, “Come with it.”

The word “weary” here means worn out — drained to the point of collapse. Not the kind of tired that fades after a good sleep, but the kind that settles in after you’ve tried everything and nothing moved. You are stuck in a place you can’t get out of, no matter how many ways you’ve tried.

The word “burdened” describes someone who is weighed down and dragged backward. You are moving forward, but something is pulling you down with every step.

Jesus says: You can bring all of this with you.

You don’t have to solve it first. You come to Him, He takes it, and then you take the next step. The dead end you are facing is not a sign of weak faith. It is the very place where He parts the sea and makes a road where there was no road.

So today, hand over the task of “fixing it.” Your part is to come. His part is to give you rest.

Reflection

What burden are you carrying today that was never meant for your shoulders alone?
